Common questions
Why is storage measured in gigabytes and not hours?
Because gigabytes are what we're billed in, and telling you otherwise would mean guessing on your behalf. As a rough guide, a minute of video is about 45 MB — so 15 GB is around five and a half hours. Photos and written answers barely register.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes, from Account → Manage subscription in the app. You keep everything you paid for until the end of the year you already bought — we don't cut you off mid-term. Lifetime is a single payment with nothing to cancel.
What happens to my recordings if I stop paying?
Nothing is deleted while anybody might still be coming for them. Your account returns to the free plan and everything stays — you can still watch, share and download all of it, you just can't add new recordings. We hold your recordings for two years, and before anything is ever removed we email you three times, and your trusted contacts too, with a link to download it all and a button that keeps your account for another year at no cost. And we will never delete recordings of someone who has died because a payment stopped.
What if I run out of room?
Nothing breaks and nothing is deleted. You keep everything you've recorded and everything stays playable — you're just asked to free up space or move up a plan before adding more.
How does legacy delivery work?
You name trusted contacts in the app and mark which recordings are meant for whom. We email you every six months to check you're still there; if nine months pass with no answer at all, delivery begins. A trusted contact can also tell us sooner — and if they do, we email you first, wait, and a person here reviews it before anything is sent. You stay in control of what each person sees and when.
Is this a will?
No. The Attic holds keepsakes, not legal instruments — recordings here are not wills, trusts or estate documents, and we're not an executor. For anything legal, see a qualified attorney. This is for the things a will has no room for.
